Water Service Restored in Kemp

Boil water notice issued for Kemp residents

Kemp Mayor Donald Kile says water pressure in the city has been restored.

Kile said repairs were completed Monday night and water service was restored at about 5:30 p.m. with the first customers receiving water around 8:30 p.m.

Service was not restored fast enough to aid firefighters battling a housefire in the town Monday night.  Firefighters relied on a portable tank to battle the fire.

A boil water notice expired Friday.

Even with service restored, the city is under Stage 5 water restrictions meaning that residents must use water sparingly and they are forbidden to water their yards.

Anyone caught violating the water restrictions will lose service.

Water had been cut off in the town since Sunday.
