Volunteer Firefighter Arrested, Accused of Sexual Abuse by Family

A firefighter is behind bars in Parker County after being accused of sexually abusing two family members, aged 8 and 11, police say.

Richard Frederick Adams Sr., 62, was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14, according to the Parker County Sheriff's Office.

The children were abused multiple times in 2014, according to investigators. All of the alleged offenses took place in Parker County.

The children reported the assault shortly after it occurred. That fact helped authorities move forward with the case quickly, said Lt. Mark Arnett with the sheriff's department.

Adams, who lives in Weatherford, is currently listed on the Hudson Oaks Volunteer Fire Department website as a member of their staff.

Adams has been suspended from their department pending the outcome of the investigation, the department said Wednesday morning, adding that they had no other information.

Adams previously worked for the Fort Worth Fire Department from 1977 to 2009, when he retired with the rank of firefighter.

Adams is being held on $150,000 bond.

NBC 5's Ellen Bryan and Elvira Sakmari contributed to this report.
