Victim Speaks Out After Truck Crashes Into Fort Worth Store

A woman who was inside the Star Food Mart in Fort Worth as a truck came crashing through a wall Tuesday, killing one person and injuring seven others, is speaking out about the scary moment.

Isaac Adams, 19, is charged with intoxication manslaughter following the crash near the intersection of Riverside Drive and East Lancaster Avenue.

The crash killed 24-year-old Sylvia Zazueta, who was trapped by the truck and had to be extricated by firefighters. She was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth in critical condition, but did not survive her injuries.

Zazueta was married with three children.

Seven other people were transported to area hospitals, including Marion Crain, an expectant mother who is seven months pregnant.

“I seen the car in the store, people scrambling. I seen smoke. Everything was flying everywhere,” Crain said.

Crain said she was hit by something but doesn’t know if it was the truck or debris.

“Honestly, I was just in complete shock,” Crain said.

“There was no way out. They literally had to cut the bars and stuff down. I had friends jumping up on the bars trying to make sure I was OK. Everyone was trying to call 911,” said Crain.

Crain said she rode in the ambulance with the passenger who was inside the speeding truck. He is not facing charges.

“He just kept crying and saying that he was sorry,” Crain said, “and I told him it wasn’t his fault. He was just the passenger.”

Crain has retained an attorney, Mark Anderson, who is looking into the circumstances surrounding what happened.
