Vice President Joe Biden Speaks With Mayor Mike Rawlings in Dallas

Vice President Joe Biden joined Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings on the rooftop of Southside on Lamar Wednesday to discuss infrastructure investment in Texas.

The backdrop overlooked where a new high-speed rail station would be built.

Biden talked about the future of high-speed rail, currently being proposed between Houston and Dallas, and the cost of paving even more freeways between the cities and around the state.

Biden said the high-speed rail proposal is a good project for Texas and could bring in more than $35 billion of economic benefits in 25 years.

The vice president said he wanted to come to Dallas to talk about it again.

"I am just happy to be here. Hope you invite me back when you break ground. I may be looking for a job, you know, by that time, but I hope you invite me back because I plan on riding this sucker," Biden said.

Last week, NBC 5's Brian Curtis debuted a series of stories on the future of high-speed rail in Texas.

Biden was in Houston earlier Wednesday and delivered similar remarks with Houston Mayor Annise Parker.

Following the event in Dallas, Biden was due to travel to San Antonio to attend a Democratic National Committee event before returning home to Washington D.C.
