Van De Putte Lost Thousands in Gambling: Report

Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor Leticia Van de Putte has released three years of tax returns show that she and her husband earned a combined $143,000 to $184,000 a year between 2010 and 2012.

The federal returns also showed the San Antonio state senator and her husband, Pete Van de Putte, also lost $10,000 gambling in Las Vegas over two years, 2011 and 2012.

The San Antonio Express-News reported the Van de Puttes' income hinged largely on their flag business. Leticia Van de Putte reported earning less than the $7,200 salary specified for state senators but about $16,000 a year as a pharmacist and $16,000 a year working for a provider of business outsourcing tools.

They also reported about $42,000 in oil and gas royalties over three years.
