An 18-year-old man died early Saturday in a house fire in University Park.

Firefighters responded to a duplex in the 3700 block of Northwest Parkway around 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning.  They were called there by a neighbor who reported heavy smoke.

Fire crews found the victim James Harrison in his bed.  He was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators said the fire started with a kitchen cooktop area left on.  There was no damage to the neighboring unit.
