United Way OneUp Campaign to Give Away $100,000 to Local Entrepreneurs

The United Way of Metropolitan Dallas is launching another online contest to help boost local startups with money and resources.

All you have to do is "Click for Social Good," and participants win a chance to compete in the OneUp the Vote competition.

This is the second year for the digital campaign. Seven social entrepreneurs compete for a total of $100,000 between Sept. 27 and Oct. 26.

"We know innovation is critical to continuing to engage and support the communities we serve," said Jennifer Sampson, the McDermott-Templeton president and CEO of the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas. "As the culture around giving evolves with the millennial generation, we must offer new and fresh investment opportunities that make a meaningful difference for the people of North Texas."

Watch the short videos at www.oneupthevote.org to learn about the seven organizations, vote and then share it online. Voting is allowed once a day for four weeks. Sharing and challenging others to vote triples the impact of the vote.

Every Thursday, the United Way will give away $12,500 to the week's winner. The largest prize of $50,000 goes to the organization with the most votes and will be announced Oct. 27 on Facebook.

The 2017 OneUp the Vote competitors are:

  • Beacon Hill Preparatory Institute
  • Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO)
  • Education Opens Doors
  • First3Years’ Safe Babies
  • ScholarShot
  • Skratch
  • Youth with Faces
