Unemployed Teacher Finds $20,000, Returns it to the Bank

An unemployed teacher who thought a bag on a road carried a dirty diaper found about $20,000 and returned the cash to a bank.

The Eagle newspaper reported Wednesday that Chase bank officials in return gave Candace Scott a $500 credit gift card.

Scott on Tuesday morning was driving and saw a clear bag with a blue zipper. She says it looked like money inside but then thought the bag had a soiled diaper.

Scott stopped anyway and found two bundles of hundred dollar bills in the bag with a Chase label. She drove to a nearby Chase bank and gave the cash to the branch manager.

Chase spokesman Greg Hassell on Wednesday confirmed the bank bag contained about $20,000. He declined to provide additional information citing courier safety.
