UT-Bound RB Sends Steele Past Guyer for 5A Title

Texas-bound running back Malcolm Brown scored all three Cibolo Steele touchdowns, including the game-winner late in a 24-21 victory against Denton Guyer in the Class 5A Division II championship game Saturday.

Brown needed 28 carries to get 112 yards, but had a critical 8-yard run on third-and-6 early in the decisive fourth-quarter drive. A play earlier, quarterback Tommy Armstrong recovered his own fumble when a Guyer defender lost control of the ball.

The winning score for Steele (14-2) was a 2-yard run by Brown on the same power sweep that earlier converted a fourth-and-goal from the 1.

Guyer (13-3) took its first lead at 21-17 on the previous possession when Treavon Walton went 10 yards to finish a short drive.
