USB Wall Chargers Recalled Over Fire, Burn Hazards

Sharper Image is voluntarily recalling an estimates 80,000 USB wall chargers because of concerns over fire and burn hazards.

Atomi, the company that made the chargers for Sharper Image, has received 13 reports of the chargers overheating, smoking and giving off acrid smells. No injuries have been reported.

The Sharper Image USB wall chargers involved in the recall are black plastic, measure about 2 1/2 inches high by 1 1/2 inches wide, they have "The Sharper Image" printed across the top and the bottom of the charger will have the numbers TSI202 and TSI260.

The chargers were sold at Burlington Coat Factor, Tuesday Morning and TJ Maxx stores as well as on various websites from October 2011 through September 2012.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says consumers should stop using the recalled wall chargers and contact Atomi for instructions on returning it for a full refund at (800) 790-1440 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday or email info@atominy.com.
