USACE Provides Update on Lewisville Lake Dam Repairs

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers held a news conference to discuss repairs to the Lewisville Lake Dam Tuesday morning.

The USACE's Fort Worth District also hosted a tour of construction along the embankment of the dam beginning at about 8:30 a.m.

"You look downstream and you can see the city of Dallas and then you see all this water behind us, so I think everybody understand the importance of the project,"  USACE's Aloysia Brown said.

The Lewisville Lake Dam is among 25 flood-risk management reservoirs within the district that sustained about $30 million in damages during floods in spring of 2015.

More than 20 of the lakes retained floodwater and prevented an estimated $7 billion in downstream damages, according to the USACE.
