UNT Students Could Soon Buy Alcohol on Campus

University North Texas students may be able to buy alcohol at the Student Union on campus.

UNT officials have recently decided to explore the options of on-campus liquor sales. The student government association voted in support of the university acquiring a liquor license.

The final portion of the application was submitted May 17 to the Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission. The TABC has 40 days to approve the request.

After the TABC makes a decision, UNT’s dining services officials said they will meet to discuss how the liquor license could be utilized. Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, which is located inside of the Student Union, could be one of the restaurants to use the license.

About 20 percent of the university's students — most of whom are freshman — live on campus. [[380108061,C]]
