Dozens of demonstrators from two rallies converged Friday evening to march through the streets of Downtown Dallas.
The groups that joined together, one favoring immigration rights and the other protesting police brutality, ended up near Belo Garden by about 10 p.m.
One demonstrator had some sort of injury and was transported from the West End area by Dallas Fire-Rescue medics about 9 p.m. The circumstances of the injury were unclear.
Some downtown businesses closed early, allowing employees to head home before traffic became an issue from the planned rallies.
The group Mothers Against Police Brutality started marching from the Frank Crowley Courthouse on the west side of downtown.
The protest came in the wake of six Baltimore police officers being charged in Freddie Gray's death. On Friday, the Baltimore medical examiner ruled Gray's death a homicide.
He died April 19 of a severe and critical neck injury he suffered from being handcuffed, shackled by his feet and unsecured inside a police van during his arrest a week earlier.
Texas Organizing Project, known as TOP, a pro-immigration organization, met at Dallas City Hall and also moved to Belo Garden.
