Two Garland firefighters have been suspended with pay while the department investigates allegations they cheated on a promotional exam.
David Riggs, president of the Garland Firefighters Association, said he supports the suspensions and the investigation.
"We regret this situation has occurred," Riggs said. "We feel very confident our department administration is handling it correctly and will investigate it thoroughly."
City spokeswoman Dorothy White confirmed two firemen are on administrative leave but would not confirm it had to do with allegations of cheating on an exam.
Riggs also declined to discuss the case in detail.
"Something has come to the administration's knowledge and they feel like we need to investigate," Riggs said. "We're not in the judging business. We want to make sure every member gets due process."
White would not say when the last promotional exam took place, but Riggs said it was months ago.

He also said the tests are administered by the city's human resources department.
