Man Killed in Crash, Woman Fatally Struck Afterward on Interstate 20: Arlington Police

Police said a man was killed in a crash and a woman was fatally struck in a subsequent hit-and-run on Interstate 20 in Arlington early Monday morning. [[425072004,C]]

Arlington police spokeswoman Vanessa Harrison said a vehicle was travelling east on I-20 when it hit a guardrail, lost control and rolled multiple times near the Kelly Elliott bridge at about 2 a.m.

The man driving — later identified as 18-year-old Paul Acosta — was ejected from the vehicle, according to police.

Witnesses told police the female passenger - later identified by family members as Destiny Crispin - ran toward Acosta and was struck by another vehicle.

Arlington Police have identified Paul Acosta as the man killed in a crash in Arlington early Monday morning. Family members identified Destiny Crispin as the woman with him who was then hit by an oncoming car and died, Monday May 29, 2017.

Police said Acosta and Crispin were pronounced deceased on the scene.

The vehicle that struck Crispin fled the scene, according to police. However, the driver of that vehicle has since contacted police and is cooperating with investigators, APD says.

Investigators said they closed all but the right shoulder of eastbound I-20 for several hours. All lanes have since reopened.
