Person killed turning from state Highway 114 onto Interstate 35, police say

A driver was killed Monday night in a two-vehicle crash near Texas Motor Speedway.

The accident happened in Northlake when the driver of a Mustang turned from east-bound state Highway 114 onto north-bound Interstate 35W and collided with a Buick SUV, police said.

The person in the Mustang was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner identified the victim as 55-year-old Richard Ireland of Azle, TX early Tuesday..

Police said the accident was not related to recent lane closures as construction workers widen Highway 114.

The construction is taking place to the west of I-35. The accident was on the east side of the highway.
