Two Arrested in University Park Driveway Robbery Case: Police

University Park police arrested two people they say are responsible for a Dec. 20 driveway robbery in the 3800 block of Centenary Drive.

Detectives say surveillance video showed Ampi Jones using a credit card stolen during last year's robbery to buy gasoline at a convenience store 30 minutes after a couple reported being robbed at gunpoint.

According to University Park police, Jones admitted to giving a gun to Charles Hunt to commit the robbery and admitted to driving the getaway car.

Hunt was arrested by Dallas police in other driveway robbery cases.

"She was not connected to the Dallas robberies, we're the ones that made the connections to the robbery here and then she was connected to Hunt, that had previously been arrested by Dallas," said Officer Lita Snellgrove with the University Park Police Department.

Investigators say instead of multiple crews committing similar crimes in the Dallas area, it appears Hunt used multiple women as accomplices.

Jones and Hunt have been charged with aggravated robbery and a third woman was arrested in Dallas. Police say she allegedly participated in robberies with Hunt.

Jones is in the Dallas County Jail, she was arraigned and bond was set for $100,000. Hunt is still awaiting arraignment.
