Irving police said they are looking for a driver who took off after crashing a truck into an apartment complex early Monday morning.

The truck hit the Hacienda Serena Apartment Complex on West Pioneer Drive around 1 a.m.

Resident David Thorp said he heard a screeching sound followed by a loud thud at his apartment around 1 a.m.

Thorp said he had just left the bathroom located on the other side of the wall from where the driver hit just about a minute before the crash happened.

When he went outside, Thorp said the truck and its driver were both gone.

Officers said they later found the truck, but not the driver. They will be using the information from the vehicle to help track the driver.

According to police, a structural engineer looked at the building early this morning and said it was safe.
