A North Texas father was sentenced to 20 years in prison today after he deprived his son of water for so long he died.
Michael Ray James pleaded guilty to second degree injury to a child and a jury sentenced him to 20 years in prison Monday.
Prosecutors say James punished his 10-year-old son Johnathan by not allowing him to drink anything for five days and forcing him to stand in one place for long periods of time.
Officers arrested James and the boy's stepmother, Tina Alberson, last summer.
In January, jury sentenced Alberson to 85 years in prison for her part in the boy's death.
