A transformer malfunction caused power outages and a fire in Dallas Friday morning. [[333219451,C]]
The transformer malfunctioned just after 8 a.m. on Farrington Street near Crampton Street and began shooting sparks onto the ground, one of which hit a van, which caught fire.
Power lines were down on an adjacent street, having fallen on top of several cars. There is no word yet on what caused the lines to fall.
A witness told NBC 5 that many businesses in the area lost power as a result.
