Town Considers Putting Booze Sales on Tap
Measure on November ballot would legalize beer, wine sales in Farmersville

Farmersville residents may not have to leave town replenish their supply of cold ones after November.
Some smaller towns in Collin County are considering adding beer and wine to their store shelves.
To buy beer or wine in most of the county, residents have to travel to the bigger cities -- Allen, Frisco, McKinney and Plano.
Three weeks ago, the small town of Princeton added beer and wine sales to grocery stores. And now seven miles away, Farmersville is considering doing the same.
"As a Christian, I just don't believe that we need alcohol in Farmersville," resident Dorothy Wright said.
The town has collected enough signatures to put the sale of alcohol on the November ballot.
"I know there is a lot of older people and a lot of people in the community that are against it, but why go all the way to Princeton and let them have the tax?" said Adrianne Addington, who supports the measure.
While she doesn't support the measure, Wright said she knows there is support for it.
"I would not be surprised if it passed the first time but, it's not going to be from my vote," she said.
But one man said he thinks stores should be allowed to sell beer and wine.
"I think it's up to the people," he said. "Whatever they want, they ought to be able to do."
