Tom Joyner Unable to Reach Haiti for Live Show

Joyner goes live from Miami instead

The nationally syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show planned to go live from earthquake-stricken Haiti but instead ended up broadcasting from Miami.

Joyner told listeners Friday morning that he got as far as Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, but was unable to get to Port-au-Prince in time to do his show Friday, which airs from 5 a.m.-9 a.m. CST.

Joyner said: "We didn't make it to Haiti, but we're on the air."

The Haitian capital city's airport, damaged in Tuesday's quake, is congested with relief flights and air traffic has been limited.

American Airlines, the main carrier to Haiti, suspended commercial flights Wednesday and instead has been transporting relief supplies.
