Toddler Dies After Tumbling Into Bucket of Water

A toddler has apparently drowned after he tumbled into bucket of water at his North Texas home.

River Oaks Deputy Police Chief Christopher Spieldenner told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that the 1-year-old was playing with siblings Wednesday evening when he wandered away.

Spieldenner says the child, identified as Miguel Tovar, was gone only a short while when he fell head-first into a mop bucket and was unable to get out. Family members pulled him from the bucket but the boy was unresponsive.

CPR was performed by the family and also when emergency personnel arrived, but the efforts proved unsuccessful.

State Child Protective Services is investigating the matter and Miguel's 7-year-old and 5-year-old brothers are staying with relatives during the inquiry.

River Oaks is northwest of Fort Worth.
