Toddler Dies After Gunfire at Central Texas Home

A toddler has become the third person to die following gunfire at a Central Texas home blamed on the child's father.

The Travis County Medical Examiner's Office on Thursday said the death of the girl, Azareyh Owens, was a homicide.

The child was found wounded Monday at a residence near Ledbetter. Her mother, 19-year-old Justice Martinez, was dead at the scene.

Fayette County sheriff's deputies began searching for the woman's ex-boyfriend, 25-year-old Deandre Owens, as a suspect. Owens was located at an apartment in Austin where authorities say he fatally shot himself during a standoff.

Investigators say the couple had a history of domestic violence and the woman recently broke up with Owens.

Their child died Wednesday at an Austin hospital.
