Time Capsule Sealed in 1964 Opened in Fort Worth

A time capsule interred in 1964 near the entrance of a Fort Worth bank has been opened, revealing newspapers, pictures from the business' opening and sealed letters addressed to the children and future grandchildren of those present at the sealing.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that dozens of people gathered Wednesday at the Bank of America as the 50-year-old capsule was opened.

The bank building opened 50 years ago as an office of the City National Bank of Fort Worth. Though the name has changed, the brick structure has always been a bank.

The contents were heavily influenced by the times -- the year after the assassination in Dallas of President John F. Kennedy. Contents included a WBAP-TV newsreel of Kennedy's last speech, which took place in Fort Worth.
