Three people survived a fiery crash Sunday morning in Irving largely thanks to three strangers who stopped to rescue them before police and firefighters arrived.

The single-car crash happened at about 7:10 a.m. along State Highway 161 just south of Interstate 635.

"First instinct was to go help these people," said Armand Arciniega, of Dallas, who along with his co-worker, Ruben Aguilar, pulled the three people inside the burning car to safety.

"(The) car was on fire. It seemed like the car was getting ready to blow up at any minute, so we just pulled them out of there," said Arciniega.

Kevin Prince, of Irving, a trained firefighter-paramedic who only recently moved to North Texas, also stopped to help the injured.

"By the time I got to the car, it was fully enflamed. The car was already done," Price said. "I couldn't tell what kind of car it was. That's just how bad it was."

"They did the right thing – from pulling them away from the car and then leaving them laying flat on the ground – they did a really good job doing that," Prince said.

The three occupants in the car were taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital, including the driver, 20-year-old Enya Hernandez, and two passengers, 21-year-old Drisgi Shresgha, and 31-year-old Mario Aguilar.

Monday night, Shresgha and Aguilar were listed in serious condition, but there's no word about Hernandez's condition.

In the accident report, Irving police said Rueben, Arciniega and Prince, "should be recognized for their heroism and selfless acts in assisting in saving the lives of these three motorists."
