Three Shootings, Three Miles, 90 Minutes

Beer truck delivery man shot in neck

Fort Worth police are investigating if three shootings within three miles and 90 minutes of each other are related.

Two people were sent to the hospital after the shootings in Northwest Fort Worth on Tuesday morning.

"You never expect this to happen to your family," Cristina Martinez said. "We're in shock right now."

Her brother-in-law, Ruben Martinez, 29, was shot in the neck outside the Buy & Save, a convenience store at the corner of Azle Avenue and West Long Avenue.

He and another driver for Ben E. Keith in Fort Worth were delivering beer just before 6 am. Witnesses said the gunman was hiding behind the store. Police are reviewing surveillance video from the Buy & Save.

"I can't confirm whether robbery was the motive at this time," Sgt. Pedro Criado said.

Martinez and his wife are expecting their second child any day, and the Martinez family is offering a $6,000 reward in the case.

Another man was shot outside a nearby apartment building, and a third got away when a gunman approached him outside the Lowe's on Northwest Center Drive.

Criado said the string of incidents is "unusual" and called it an "isolated incident."
