Three Killed in Van Crash in Haltom City

Haltom City police said a cargo van with 10 people hit a tree, killing three people.

The van ran off the highway and truck a tree in the grassy median at southbound State Highway 121 between Haltom Road and Hickory Street shortly before 4 p.m. Friday.

Two men and one woman were pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.

Three of the white Ford cargo van's occupants were were transported to John Peter Smith Hospital. The other four people were taken to Harris Methodist Hospital.

Police had originally said that eight people were in the van, but later said a total of 10 people were in the vehicle.

Haltom City police Sgt. Eric Peters said the injuries ranged from cuts and bruises to major injuries that required admission into intensive care.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Police said no other vehicles are believed to be involved.
