Families Robbed at Gunpoint in Allen

Entire families terrified by gun toting robbers

Allen police investigated two home invasion robberies and one burglary Saturday night that they think are connected.

One victim agreed to talk to NBC 5 on the condition of anonymity. His entire family, including young children, were tied up and held at gunpoint by three masked men. The family is still terrified.

"So immediately they are pointing guns at our head," said the victim who said all three robbers had guns. "They were threatening and were keeping the guns at our head saying, 'Where is the money?'"

Police said the family was the group’s third hit of the night. Investigators said they think the three men robbed a family in the 1400 block of Rio Grande Drive at about 8 p.m. Saturday also burglarized a house in the 1200 block of Phillip Drive and then another in the 300 block of Wrotham Lane just after 9 p.m.

Allen police are investigating four home invasions and robberies they believe are connected. Three of them happened Saturday night within a little more than an hour.

The victim said one man held the hostages at gunpoint and instructed the other two to look for jewelry, electronics and cash. After 15 minutes, the men dragged the family into the family room and ordered them to lie face down. The masked men then left out the back door.

Police told NBC 5 that in all of these cases the men were wearing ski masks and gloves. Witnesses said they fled in a dark sedan.

"Any time someone comes into your home, there’s trauma with it," said Allen police Sgt. Jon Felty. "The good news is no one has been injured. But we want to get these guys in custody before someone does become injured."

Police said these three men may also linked to a home invasion Friday night in on the 500 block of Abbey Court in Coppell.  While it hasn't been confirmed by police, the crime is similar to a reported home invasion in Flower Mound on Sunday night.
