Three Arrested, Charged in Murder of Man Found Bound in Dallas Hotel

Three people suspected in the death of a man found bound and beaten in a Dallas hotel room last month were arrested by U.S. Marshals in Las Vegas last Thursday, Dallas police say.

Investigators said Monday 21-year-old Rachel Sophia Burden, 21-year-old Jessica Yasmyn Ontiveros and 24-year-old Anthony Rashad George were located and taken into custody by the U. S. Marshal Service's Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team on Dec. 8.

The three were wanted in connection with the death of 46-year-old Brian Sample. Sample's body was found in the Le Méridien Dallas Hotel on the 13000 block of Noel Road on the afternoon of Nov. 28, police said.

Prior to the announcement of the arrests, police would only say that Sample showed signs of homicidal violence and that several people were wanted for questioning.

In arrest warrant affidavits released Monday, police said Sample was found bound and suffering from severe physical injuries in room 1015 of the hotel. Police added that Sample's room had been ransacked and that some items were missing -- a large, undisclosed sum of money was found in Sample's hotel room safe.

Fingerprints recovered at the scene were a match for both Burden and Ontiveros, police said. Investigators added that Sample had contacted Burden by phone and that her phone number was linked to a prostitution website and that Ontiveros had documentation verifying she was involved in prostitution.

Police said two men, one in all red and another in all black, were recorded on hotel surveillance video entering the hotel. On the video, police said, Burden can be seen talking with the man in all black before he entered an elevator.

Both men were later recorded exiting a stairwell and leaving the hotel. As the men walked toward a dark-colored vehicle, police said the man in all black was recorded throwing an object into a sewage drain.

During the investigation, police recovered Sample's mobile phone from that sewage drain, police said. Investigators also said they found blood evidence in the stairwell used by the men to leave the building.

According to Dallas police the women waived their right to remain silent and admitted to detectives their roles in Sample's death, though further details have not been provided. Burden and Ontiveros currently face a capital murder charge and are being held in the Cook County Jail on $250,000 bond each.

George, who declined to talk with investigators, also faces a capital murder charge and is being held on a bond of $750,291. Police said George's facial tattoo looks like one visible on the man who was wearing all black in the surveillance video.

The identity of the fourth man has not been released and he's presumed to be at large.

Police did not say how the trio were located or if a $5,000 Crime Stoppers reward in the case will be paid.
