Texas Woman Charged with Leaving Infant in Truck

A Baytown woman has been charged with child endangerment after authorities say another woman found her baby left in a hot truck.

Authorities said 29-year-old Wendy Rico-Montes De Oca was charged with the felony this week in connection to the Sept. 29 incident.

Kristin Wright told KTRK-TV and KHOU-TV she rescued the infant from a truck outside of a Baytown consignment shop.

A Harris County District Attorney spokeswoman said charges were not pursued earlier because the child was not injured and it was unclear how long the mother was gone.

The spokeswoman said an officer reviewed security footage after Wright filed a complaint and it showed that the child had been left alone for 30 minutes.

It was not immediately clear if Rico-Montes De Oca has an attorney.
