Texas Retail Gas Prices Increase by a Penny

Retail gasoline prices across Texas increased by a penny this week, bringing the average price at the pump to $3.46 a gallon.

AAA Texas said Thursday the statewide average is 6 cents more than this time last year. The national average stands at $3.65.

Drivers in Amarillo are paying the least at $3.37 per gallon while motorists in Dallas and Fort Worth are paying the most at $3.53.

AAA says geopolitical tensions, most notably in Ukraine, are pushing global oil costs upward, which are in turn driving up retail gas prices.

But Texas is among the top 10 states that on average have the least expensive gas in the country this year.
