A Texas police department is mourning a devastating loss after a K-9 was found dead in the back of a patrol car last Friday.
The Madisonville Police Department said "Baron," a Belgian Malinois, was a two-year veteran of the department.
The chief called his passing a tragic accident but has asked Texas Rangers to investigate.
The department will also review its own policies to see what went wrong.
Baron's handler has been reassigned during both investigations.
