Texas Man Fatally Struck by Train in Philadelphia

Authorities have identified a San Antonio area man killed by a train in Philadelphia during the evening rush hour after having just visited the Liberty Bell.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that police said 55-year-old Woodrow Jackson, of Cibolo, was with his wife late Tuesday afternoon when he apparently fell onto the tracks at the 13th Street station just as a Market-Frankford train was arriving.

Jackson died at the scene. His wife was taken to a hospital to be treated for shock.

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority shut off power along the track between the 30th Street and Spring Garden stations as police investigated.

Shuttles had to take passengers between 30th Street and Spring Garden while service was suspended.

SEPTA is reviewing surveillance footage to determine how Jackson wound up on the tracks.
