Texas Man Convicted of Killing Ex-Girlfriend's Mom

Body was dumped behind a shopping center on Camp Bowie Boulevard

A Central Texas man has been convicted of killing the mother of his ex-girlfriend in an attack a few weeks after the couple broke up.

Prosecutors in Bryan are seeking the death penalty for Stanley Wayne Robertson of College Station, who had a history of abusing his girlfriend.

The penalty phase began Friday for Robertson. He was convicted Thursday of capital murder in the August 2010 stabbing death of 59-year-old Annie Mae Toliver. She was abducted from College Station.

Robertson was arrested when his fleeing vehicle hit a Fort Worth police car. Toliver's body was found in a Fort Worth parking lot.

Police say Robertson earlier was charged with assaulting Tammy Toliver and he called her after the slaying to say it was her fault that he killed her mother.
