The Texas Department of Public Safety says a highway patrol trooper has died in a one-vehicle crash near the West Texas town of Post.

Jonathan McDonald, 28, died Monday night when he lost control of his vehicle and it struck a culvert. He was responding to an accident on U.S. 84 south of Post at the time.

The highway patrol's crash investigation team is probing McDonald's wreck.

The trooper joined DPS in January 2008 and was stationed in Post. He is survived by his wife and a six-month-old daughter.

The visitation will be held Thursday, November 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Resthaven Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 5740 19th Street (5740 West 19th & West Loop 289), in Lubbock. The funeral home can be reached at 806-791-6200.

Funeral services for Trooper McDonald will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church, 2201 Broadway, in Lubbock. The burial will be in the Resthaven Cemetery immediately following the service.
