Texas Game Wardens Star In Reality Television Show

Lone Star Law Airs on Animal Planet

The Texas Game Wardens are the stars of a new reality television show on Animal Planet.

"Lone Star Law" premiered three weeks ago and it features several Texas Game Wardens from North Texas.

"It's kind of surreal right now. It's weird seeing yourself on television," said Mike Stephens. "We kind of feel that way [local celebrities] being Texas Game Wardens, but this just puts us on the national stage."

Stephens was on the first "Lone Star Law" episode which featured several game wardens executing a search warrant at a Dallas home. The man was accused of illegally hunting an alligator.

"This is a huge state and there is a lot going on," Stephens said. "We'll be in the fields, we'll be on the lakes, we'll be in the woods, and we'll be in the rivers."

The Texas Game Wardens have numerous law enforcement duties including poaching investigations, border patrol, and water rescue missions. Game wardens also handle day-to-day police work.

There are more than 500 Texas Game Wardens across the state.
