Texas troopers will increase patrols for drunken drivers during Spring Break.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said they will have enhanced patrols beginning March 7 until March 22. They plan to patrol high-risk areas at times when drunken driving is most frequent.
A Texas Department of Transportation grant is funding the patrols.
Troopers made 1,389 DWI arrests, 3,343 seat belt / child safety seat tickets and around 23,600 other citations in Spring Break of 2014. Troopers also made 861 fugitive arrests and 728 felony arrests last year.
