Texas Cop Won't Be Charged in Fatal New Mexico Shooting

Prosecutors say no charges will be filed against a Texas police officer who shot and killed a New Mexico woman during a car chase across state lines.

The Hobbs News-Sun reports that Fifth Judicial District Attorney Jannetta Hicks said in a recent letter Denver City police officer Ryan Taylor won't be charged in the October 2013 shooting death of 35-year-old Amy Reyna.

Authorities say Reyna drove into a southeastern New Mexico pasture and stopped after the chase. A dash-cam video of the shooting shows Reyna's car slowly backing away when Taylor fired three times at the car's engine and four times toward the driver's seat.

An autopsy ruled she had methamphetamine in her system.

Reyna had felony arrest warrants in Texas and New Mexico.

In April, her family filed a federal lawsuit against officers in the shooting.
