Texas College Receives $390K Grant

Texas State University's criminal justice school has received a grant to study the causes of wrongful convictions and failed criminal investigations.

Texas State University announced the $390,000 grant on Tuesday.

The grant is from the National Institute of Justice, which is the research, development and evaluation agency of the federal justice department. The organization was seeking proposals for research on criminal justice system errors.

Kim Rossmo with the Texas college says the study will include researching unsolved crimes that could have been solved. Rossmo says the study will help provide a better understanding of how those failures happen and prevent future mistakes. He says it will result in a more fair and effective criminal justice system.
