Texas Bust Finds Cocaine Hidden in Car Battery

A South Texas woman faces a drug charge after about 12 pounds of cocaine turned up hidden in the battery of her vehicle bound for Houston.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office says Alma R. Presas of La Joya had her three elementary school-age children along when she was arrested Monday near Flatonia. That's about 100 miles west of Houston.

A deputy stopped the woman for a traffic violation and officials say Presas seemed very nervous. She allowed a search. Officers found cocaine with a street value topping $100,000.

Presas was charged with possession of a controlled substance and freed on $10,000 bond. No information was immediately available Tuesday on an attorney for the woman. The children were reunited with their mother after Presas was freed.
