Child Protective Services suspect a 9-year-old Galveston boy may have been locked in a small wooden box by his father and photographed nude.
The boy is in foster care as authorities determine whether the boy's mother can provide a safe home.
The boy ran away last month. When police returned him home, the father directed them to a small laundry or utility room that he said was the boy's room. There was an 8-by-6 foot wooden box, a blanket and a pair of socks in the room.
Court records say the boy told police his father and stepmother wrote "liar" and "thief" on his naked body and took cell phone pictures of him that way. The Associated Press does not identify victims of sex crimes.
No charges have been filed.
