Texan Sentenced for Meth Distribution in Mississippi

A federal judge in Mississippi has sentenced 38-year-old Texas man to 20 years in prison for distributing crystal meth in George County and surrounding areas.

The Sun Herald reported Sergio Contreras Jr., of Penitas, Texas, was sentenced Monday on a guilty plea to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute crystal meth.

U.S. District Judge Sul Ozerden also ordered three years of post-release supervision.

Contreras pleaded guilty earlier this year, admitting his involvement in distributing meth in Lucedale and outlying areas.

Contreras and 28-year-old Oscar Martinez, of Weslaco, Texas, were indicted but were charged in a bill of information in February.

Martinez is due to be sentenced on the same charge Wednesday.
