Texan Gets 30 Years for Assaulting Game Wardens

One of two men arrested following a chase that left two Texas game wardens injured has been sentenced to 30 years in prison in a road hunting and assault case.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department announced Tuesday that 52-year-old Richard Fraser of Groesbeck was sentenced after earlier pleading guilty to burglary, aggravated assault and other charges.

The game wardens were east of Waco watching for illegal road hunting in October when they saw a vehicle being driven with its lights off. That vehicle later rammed the law enforcement vehicle. The patrol vehicle later hit a culvert.

Fraser was a passenger and the driver has been identified by authorities as 44-year-old Teddie Wayne Davenport of Mart, who was sentenced last month to 50 years.

Four others connected to the case received lesser sentences.
