The Army psychiatrist charged in the deadly 2009 Fort Hood shooting rampage will be back in court for another preliminary hearing -- just six weeks before his military trial is set to begin.

A military judge is to consider Tuesday allowing certain evidence to be presented at Maj. Nidal Hasan's trial.

The judge, Col. Tara Osborn, also may rule on whether a terrorism consultant will testify.

Prosecutors say the consultant's testimony would show motive in the attack at the Central Texas Army post. Defense attorneys object, saying Hasan isn't charged with terrorism.

Hasan faces the death penalty or life without parole if convicted of 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder.

Jury selection is to start May 29, with testimony beginning July 1.
