Terrell Police Arrest Man, 39, After Chase

Terrell police said they arrested a 39-year-old man after a chase early Saturday morning.

An officer tried to stop the man — later identified as Christopher Wigfall — after police said he crossed a double white line and multiple lanes of traffic while cutting off an 18-wheeler near the Spur 557-Interstate 20 split at about 1:20 a.m.

Police said Wigfall drove west on Spur 557 at speeds up to 80 mph.

Texas Department of Public Safety deputies and a DPS helicopter assisted in the pursuit. Deputies deployed two spike strips near Belt Line Road, disabling the vehicle.

Wigfall continued on spiked tires and rims to an apartment complex near the intersection of Buckner Boulevard and Chariot Drive, according to police. He then exited the vehicle before officers apprehended him.

Two Terrell police vehicles were damaged during the chase as police said one inadvertently backed into the other.

Police said Wigfall told them he evaded them because he had an active probation warrant for his arrest for a previous offense of evading arrest.
