Terminated Worker Arrested Outside Market Street After Threatening Employee: Police

Plano police say a terminated Market Street employee threatened a former co-worker and caused a brief standoff Friday afternoon.

Police say after being fired the man went back into the store in the 1900 block of Preston Road and threatened an employee with a knife.

Police spokesman David Tilley said he didn't harm anyone but left the store and was confronted by Plano police officers outside.

He was surrounded and the parking lot was closed off until the man surrendered a short time later.

He was taken into custody and the parking lot was reopened by 4 p.m. Friday.
