Temple Officer on Leave After Arrest in Hotel Gun Incident

A Central Texas police officer accused of firing a gun into a hotel wall during a law enforcement event in El Paso has been placed on paid administrative leave.

A Temple police statement said Cpl. Kenneth Lee Sheka was placed on paid leave Friday. Police Cpl. Christopher Wilcox has said Sheka, who has been an officer since 2009, awaits a disciplinary meeting with Interim Chief Jim Tobin.

Sheka is free on $2,500 bond on a charge of deadly conduct/discharge of firearm in Tuesday's incident.

Nobody was hurt.

Sheka was in El Paso for the Combined Law Enforcement Association of Texas convention. Police say a worker complained that Sheka made inappropriate sexual comments, touched her and she said stop.

Sheka then allegedly fired a round into a wall.
