A 16-year-old girl suffered only minor injuries Thursday after being hit by a car in the teacher's parking lot at Haltom High School.

According to the Birdville Independent School District, the student was struck by a teacher after darting out from behind a trash bin as the teacher pulled in the parking lot at about 7:30 a.m.

The student was conscious after the incident and was transported to an area hospital.

The teacher is not expected to face any charges in connection with the incident.

NBC 5's Ben Russell contributed to this report.
