Teen Struck, Killed Crossing Busy Freeway

A teenager carrying a basketball was killed late Monday while trying to cross a busy freeway.

According to Dallas County Sheriff's Deputies, 16-year-old Frank Miner was crossing South Central Expressway near Metropolitan when he was hit by a suburban.

The driver of the SUV told police he never had a chance of missing the teen and the first thing he saw was the orange basketball.

According to police, the teen was with two friends who left the scene to find Miner's mother before officers arrived.

The teen was transported to Baylor Hospital in Dallas where he later died.

Police said the driver did not show any signs of impairment and is not expected to face any charges.
